So, Radiohead’s new album “The King of Limbs” came out today and it’s getting a lot of mixed reviews.
RIP Bummer Dan and Slippery Dan. I just got about halfway through the second season of Deadwood now, which sadly means I’m also halfway through the whole series. It’s probably been said a thousand times before but Ian McShane is amazing as Al Swearengen. The man made gold out of a storyline about trying to pass a kidney stone. His scene with the preacher in the finale of Season One was one of the most intense scenes I’ve ever watched and really showed the more humane side of his character, which is bizarre considering what he was doing (I won’t spoil anything). It’s not just McShane, you get solid performances from the entire cast. Paula Malcomson as Trixie, John Hawkes (Who at least deserves an Oscar nomination for his role of Teardrop in Winter’s Bone) as Sol Star. Timothy Olyphant has some of the best lines I’ve ever heard when he’s angry, “I’ll motherfuck you and then blow your head off!” Anyway, I love this show and it makes me said that it got canceled so early. To pay tribute here’s a video of all the “cocksuckers” in season one. It really hits its stride once it gets to Mr. Wu.
There’s a rumor going around right now that if you mix the tracks from the Radiohead albums “OK Computer” and “In Rainbows” with 10 second cross fades between each song they go together surprisingly well and it may have been done intentionally. Articles, like this one from Puddlegum, are being used to support the theory:
“The meaning behind all of this is right in front of our faces, we’re just overlooking it. [Thom] has been expecting an article much like this one for a couple of years, as have I. But I’m willing to wager he’ll have fun waiting a few more. On the other hand, it seems to annoy him that no one ‘gets it’ yet, given the mountain of clues.”
Do I believe it? I don’t know, I haven’t even really listened to it yet but the link above (the title of this post) is hosting both albums mixed together as one big mp3 if you want to listen.
